Purchase of a Burial Plot is for a period of 75 years and is known as "Exclusive Right of Burial". The registered owner of the plot is named at the time of purchase, and only the owner can make decisions about what happens to the plot after purchase (including installation of memorials, interment of ashes or additional burials).
In the event the registered owner passes away, the ownership of the plot will be included in that person's Estate. It is customary at that point for an heir or person nominated by the deceased owner's Estate to apply for a transfer of Exclusive Rights of Burial to themselves.
